David Ortiz had 3 base hits at the ballpark as the Lewisville Fire Ants beat
the Detroit Iron Gloves in 12 innings 4 to 3.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Lewisville
pulled the game out in the 12th inning. Ross Gload drew a walk. After an
out was recorded, Juan Gonzalez stepped in and he lined a single. Gonzalez
took second on the throw. Charles Thomas then lined a base-hit making
Lewisville the winners and sending the 27,975 fans home happy. Detroit was
out-hit by Lewisville, 12 hits to 8.
Ricardo Rodriguez(1-0) allowed no runs in 4 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Kazuhito Tadano(0-1) was charged with the loss in relief.
'Thankfully we got ourselves a win', Rodriguez said. 'It's great to be back
on the winning side of things.'
